Sheboygan burglar caught in act of raiding fridge

A 39-year-old Sheboygan man was charged with three counts of burglary after being caught in a victim's kitchen eating leftovers out of the fridge.

Ryan M. Lodygowski, 1146 Main Ave., is facing more than 22 years in prison if convicted of the three felonies.

According to the criminal complaint:

The victim called police on Aug. 27 and reported that when he woke up, he found a man dressed in basketball shorts and a hooded sweatshirt standing in his kitchen eating leftovers out of his refrigerator.

When the victim confronted the man, he ran out, dropping credit cards as he ran. The victim said a key ring with keys to his home, work and car and $30 were missing.

Two hours later, police spotted Lodygowski, who matched the victim's description, about a block away. He told police he was homeless and keeps his belongings under a trash can at Fountain Park.

When police retrieved the backpack, it contained a blue digital camera labeled "HS9," which was linked to a burglary three days before at First Presbyterian Church and Sheboygan County Head Start.

In that burglary, $1,000 cash and a laptop belonging to the Rev. Richard Manny were reported missing from the church office, and after being contacted by police the Head Start staff realized they were missing a digital camera.

Detectives later talked to a man who said Lodygowski tried to sell him a laptop for $10. When he opened the lid, the name Richard appeared with the password request.

Also during the investigation, authorities discovered a third burglary victim, who woke up on Aug. 24 to find that the keys he'd put on his desk were in his back yard.

An iPhone and iPad that had been sitting near the keys were missing. Using the "find my iPhone" app, that man located his iPhone in a trash can in Fountain Park.

The victim lives next door to the house where the Aug. 27 victim found Lodygowski in his kitchen.
