A 23-year-old Sheboygan woman is facing more than 12 years in prison for allegedly selling heroin to her mother, who subsequently overdosed.

Abbey L. Miller, 1406 N. 12th St., has been charged with felony manufacture/deliver heroin and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

According to the criminal complaint:

A man and his wife called the police on July 16 to report that his mother had overdosed on heroin the day before. The man had called 911 after he and his wife had checked on her several times and feared she'd taken heroin, and he told police he thought his mom had received the drug from his sister, Miller.

Doctor's notes indicate that the victim survived a "near-death heroin overdose," and when she was questioned by police she said she paid her daughter $50 for the heroin.

When Miller was contacted by investigators, she failed to show up for several agreed-upon appointments to talk. When a deputy finally reached her by phone, she said she thought she knew the authorities wanted to talk to her about her mother.

She also said she had not given her mom anything.

Because Miller has two misdemeanor convictions for theft and fraud on her record, her sentence can be lengthened by up to two years as a repeat offender.
