‘Who’s Got Talent?’ returns to Kohler Saturday

Special to Sheboygan Press Media

Finalists in the Kohler Performing Arts Organization’s second annual “Who’s Got Talent?” regional showcase will perform at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Kohler Memorial Theatre.

This year’s finalists hail from Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Kohler, Elkhart Lake and Howards Grove. Performers will compete for more than $4,000 in prize money.

Performances will include pop songs, show tunes, rap and opera, as well as classical and modern piano performances, violin, stand-up comedy and Irish dance, as well as a singing-guitar-comedy act. This year’s competition includes a new teen category, along with youth and adult competition groups.

This year’s youth category finalists, ages 5 to 12, features a family trio act doing a number from Disney’s “Frozen,” and includes a very confident and talented 6-year-old. There will be a “Star Wars” number and a comedy monologue.

“Aside from the level of talent each audition performer brings to the stage, the best part is seeing them walk into the audition all nerves and anxiety, and then walk onto that stage and shock us all with their showmanship,” said Rich Tengowski, who produces the show and is director of instrumental music for Kohler Public Schools.

This year’s celebrity judges include Douglas Manderfield, a Disney performer and producer and former Chicago talent agent; Jennifer Kasten, voice coach of last year’s winner Kamryn Jones; and Laura Kohler, who has a master’s degree in fine arts theater and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Food trucks will be on hand outside the Kohler Memorial Theatre starting at 3 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased at www.kohlerperformingarts.org and at the door. General admission is $10. VIP seating costs $20. Kohler Memorial Theatre is located at 260 School St., in Kohler.
